Born in Mexico City, Javier Cortés’s earliest memories are of attending oil painting classes with his grandmother.
Cortés’s love for visual arts let him to obtain a BFA, Summa Cum Laude, from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. While there he studied drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.
Cortés is drawn to the heavenly, dream-like vistas of Provincetown. In his images he wishes to inspire the viewer to engage in a contemplative meditation of ephemeral moments at the edge of the world.
